Inlays & Onlays
Sometimes referred to as "partial crowns", cast ceramic inlays and onlays can work to restore the color, shape and contour of your teeth, leaving you with a picture-perfect smile. Inlays and onlays are often used as part of cosmetic dentistry to replace metal fillings for our patients who desire a more natural-looking smile.
Inlays and onlays are molded to fit your teeth precisely. Inlays are designed to match the grooves between the cusps of a tooth. Onlays cover more tooth surface, often including the tips of those cusps. This procedure can strengthen the overall structure of your tooth and, because the restoration is bonded and sealed, prevents bacteria from being able to enter and form new cavities. Since they only require minimal elimination of tooth structure, inlays and onlays demand much greater dental expertise than regular fillings; the kind of meticulous expertise that advanced trained dentists have achieved.
Keeping your teeth decay-free and your smile beautifully white is our focus at Dental Excellence of Napoleon. We recommend ensuring the health and beauty of your new porcelain restorations by regular periodontal exams and a good home hygiene program.
